Sweet Dreams

Olivia girds herself against another unpremeditated murder with a pack of "No Sleep" pills, which I am pretty sure are anti-malaria drugs. She sits in a restaurant drinking coffee and hoping to not sleep. I think I remember this scenario from the Nightmare on Elm Street movies. If you don't know the films, fear not, I hear Hollywood is working on a re-make with Zac Efron as Freddy and John Goodman stepping in for Johnny Depp. Since she is dining alone, Olivia kills time by watching the restaurant's other patrons. Geez, Liv, get an iPhone or something, because sitting and staring is still considered pretty creepy. Speaking of creepy, a woman starts screaming at her husband for cheating, grabs a steak knife and with Olivia rushing in with an assist, she stabs him to death. Olivia wakes with a start. No Sleep fail! She stares at her hand, like Lady Macbeth (don't know it? don't worry they are remaking it with Beyonce and Norm MacDonald), grabs her phone and calls Charlie. She has a murder to report.

Over at St. Vincent's Hospital, which is in New York, so consider me confused. Did they go back to the lab? And then back to New York? Go high-speed rail! Or teleportation. Hmm...I wonder which is more likely to happen first? Olivia tells Peter that she knows she killed this man, and Peter once again assures her that they were 300 miles away. So wait...why did she call Charlie? To report that an unknown guy in an unknown restaurant in parts unknown in New York City was killed? What the heck is Charlie going to do about it? I'm sure he loved getting that call in the middle of the night. Olivia does not want to be bothered with the "facts" Peter keeps spewing. She opens the hospital room door of the man "she killed." The doctor tells them that his wife shredded his intestines and he is going to die. So they decided to let his wife, and killer, sit there with him. She is distraught and handcuffed so I guess it's okay. Olivia speaks with the woman who strangely insists on being called Mouse. The woman tells her tale: she and her husband went out to dinner. Then she doesn't know what happened, because it doesn't make any sense to her. Her husband was devoted to her, but somehow she got it in her head, she knew, that he was going to leave her. So she freaked out. And by "freaked out" I mean stabbed her husband to death with a steak knife. Reasonable in the situation, really. "Mouse" starts shaking and crying and Olivia leans in to comfort her. Olivia makes the most of her proximity to her ear and asks if it felt like someone else was in her head. The woman says no, but Olivia presses her, asking if she felt compelled to knife her husband. At that, Peter tries to drag Olivia away from the woman, because she is breaching FBI cool-and-detached protocol and is more or less yelling that "Mouse" didn't do it. As the woman keeps crying and stating that she did it, and Peter keeps saying he needs to speak to her, Olivia finally jumps up to take a breather. Olivia is almost hyperventilating and is convinced that she made that woman kill her husband. Peter tries to calm her down and reminds her that she is operating on no sleep. But Olivia looks really freaked out about what is happening to and around her and Peter ends up just pulling her in for a hug. Aw.
