Simon seems a little taken aback by Walter's brusqueness, but it's not exactly like he's wrong, so the team gets to work. Etta's working the control panel -- she's practically quivering with anticipating as they get set to bust the woman out of the amber and when they do, it's Astrid who comes flying out into Walter's arms. Etta shakes off what looks to be disappointment to calm a very agitated Astrid -- it helps when she recognizes Walter, who calls her "Astro" -- and give her the injection Astrid needs to help her breathe.
But there's still a few minutes left, so we need a complication and Simon thinks he broke the wand (cutting off Etta as she starts to say, "Walter, where is--"). He gets to soldering, unsure if he can fix it and tells Etta to set up the buffers while he sees what he can do.
Elsewhere, Astrid has discovered another block of amber, this one containing -- William Bell! Belly looks like he was trying to push his way out or maybe try the Vulcan nerve pinch on the amber. Walter joins her and a stunned Astrid raises her eyebrows at him. "Shhh," says Walter, holding up some sort of device.
Over at the other amber, the buffers' activation lights are flickering between red and green. They're having trouble communicating. Simon says that doesn't make any sense, since there's nothing here to interfere with the signal, no phones, no radio waves -- and then he figures it out, looking at his palm: "My tracker. They must have activated it."
So they have to move quickly, because -- whatever they think he's up to -- the big bad bosses are looking for Simon. Walter and Astrid rush in, Walter claiming to have heard sirens. Simon, figuring that there's at least enough of a signal to trigger the amber, gets an idea.
He gives Etta the control panel and braces himself against the amber, telling her to trigger it when he says to. She stares at him, as he counts down shakily. "We need him," he says and when he finally says "Now," she triggers it and we see Simon shift.
That's why, when the Fringe team -- including Agent Romick and Broyles, who I'm surprised can still walk since he's so damn old -- makes its way downstairs, they find Simon trapped, arms outstretched from pushing someone else out. Broyles looks around the room, finds a half-piece of licorice and looks thoughtful.
