She's Only Fatal When She's Dancing

OK, let me understand something here. Valerie has been injected with something that makes her freakishly strong and provokes her into killing people and then ripping open their backs so she can drink their spinal fluid, and Peter and Olivia are just driving around with her in the back seat of Olivia's car? OH MY GOD ARE YOU SERIOUS? Well, sure, she took a couple of tranqs to the shoulder, so I'm sure she'll "be out for hours," as Olivia says. Peter asks where the siren is, and Olivia shows him. He flips it on and starts giggling as the lights flash and the siren wails. She asks him if that's why he wanted to drive. "Everybody should get to do this at least once before they die." Well, now that you'd done the former, the latter might be closer than you think, Peter: Valerie just opened her eyes in the back seat. Didn't see that coming.

So after the commercial break, Valerie lies there, eyes open, while Peter notes that Olivia looks a little downcast. That look says more than just, "I wish I hadn't let him drive." Olivia says she was just thinking about what Boone was doing for his wife. "Geez, that kind of love," she says, and then tells Peter that Greg asked Rachel for a divorce, and now is fighting her for custody. Peter says he never liked that guy, and Olivia laughs, pointing out he's never met Greg. "Yeah, but I met your sister. So I know she deserves better," he says. Like you, huh? Olivia says she thought Peter was a "card-carrying cynic," which he admits, adding, "But there's an argument to be made that beneath every cynic there is a frustrated romantic."

Well, that's about all Valerie can take with the blathering, so she attacks Olivia from behind, and Peter starts swerving all over the road. Olivia, fighting off Valerie, yells for Peter to get her tranquilizer gun, which he does, and he manages to shoot Valerie twice, knocking her out. Yeah, that kept her out for what, five minutes last time? Shoot her again! "I think she liked you," says Peter, and Olivia's too worn out to tell him to shut his piehole.

At the lab, Peter carries Valerie in and they get her strapped down. My god, I'd be terrified to do that. Olivia sees Boone and asks what happened, and Astrid tells her he had a stroke.
