Later, at the Hash 'n' Whore, Ellie and Van Goatcheese are admiring one of his paintings: another blinding nude. Mike comes in and tries to talk to Ellie, but she's still pissed at him. She turns to Van Goatcheese: "I'll see you tomorrow?" "Paint in hand," answers Van G. Ellie leaves. Mike sidles up to Van G. and snidely asks him if he seduces his models before or after they take their clothes off. "What bothers you more, Mike?" says Van Goatcheese. "That I might see Ellie naked or that I've committed my life to my art...while you just have a job?" Mike glowers.

Later still, at the Gazette office, Mike asks Sara whether he's a passionate person. "You're my brother," says Sara. "I prefer to think of you as annoying," as if Mike being anybody's brother had anything to do with it. Sara notices that Mike is looking up school records on an "Ann Palmer": he's found The Vampire LeSkank's ID card at "College of Olympia." Mike explains he's doing an exposé on goth vampires. Then he asks Sara, "This isn't just a job, right? There's art and passion in news reporting, isn't there?" Sara tells him to keep up the artistic passion, and she might just run his story on Page Two. Mike smirks. Mike is always right. Mike is soooo brilliant that art just comes out of his ass.

At the police station, Deputy Tim tells Rudy that a search of Dr. Embry's house and car have turned up nothing; the only time unaccounted for is the hour the doctor spent napping in the hospital lounge. Rudy sends Tim out to make absolutely sure that Dr. Embry didn't stuff his wife in his locker and drain all the blood out of her body and then sneak out of the hospital and drive to the lagoon and throw her body in and come back without anybody noticing! Because that could happen. Then Mike comes in with the news that The Trampires are the killers! He explains that he found out The Vampire LeSkank is a college student in Olympia, Washington; he discovered recent news stories about a woman who was killed by exsanguination two blocks from the university. "They've been travelling around killing people! Draining their blood!" says Mike. And shopping! Rudy says he'll call the Olympia police department and get the murder files.
