At the Hash 'n' Whore, Mike asks Zane to keep an eye on Sam because he's suspicious of Conrad. Zane's like, "Stalk Sam? Okay!"
Gazette office. Hey! There's a black guy! A black guy on Glory Island! And he talks and everything! He tells Mike that the Portland paper is sending over a newspaper piece about Mr. Levy's disappearance. Just then, Mr. Generic comes in and asks to speak with Mike in private. He tells Mike that Conrad had some drug-related problems in Portland. "Is that why he was fired?" asks Mike. Mr. Generic nods. "It's, frankly, why we moved. I just thought a new beginning would change everything. It's a second chance for my family." Mike apologizes for being an overzealous news reporter. "Just one thing, though," says Mike, and mentions the fact that Mr. Levy, Conrad's boss, went missing two days after Conrad was fired. "Really?" says Mr. Generic. "I don't know anything about that." Mike stares at him. "I see," he says. Then Mike goes back to working on one of his other stories: "Ladies Auxiliary Club Holds Luncheon, Denies Knowledge Of Ritual Killings."
Then Mike goes over to Kreepy Koroner Kottage and bugs Ellie about Metal-Detector Guy's death. "I can't discuss that with you," says Ellie. "Rudy already told me he was murdered," says Mike. Ellie: "He did?" says Ellie. Mike: "So I'm right?" D'oh!
At the Dolan house, Zane is keeping his eye, literally, on Sam. Sam is being a complete snot. "What is it about this guy that's got you so whipped?" he asks Sam. "He's just...new to me," she says. "He doesn't come with any ill-conceived Glory Island baggage. That's very attractive to me." Way to be tactful, Sam. She tells Zane she's going upstairs, but while he's watching TV, she leaves out the front door.
