Sunrise on Glory Island. Good morning, Buried-Alive Guy! How are you? Oh yeah: still buried alive. Sorry.
Mike comes into the living room, where Sam is. "Not the smartest idea in the world, running off with some strange guy, Sam," he tells her. Sam says Conrad's harmless. Mike says he's not so sure; he thinks Conrad is trouble. Sam loses her shit and tells Mike he shouldn't go playing big brother/substitute father figure after ditching her for so many years. Major drama. Drama-Sam-a-rama.
Mike goes and bugs Rudy, telling him, emphatically, that Conrad is dangerous! Because two days after he was dismissed from Levy's pharmacy, Mr. Levy, the pharmacist, mysteriously disappeared! No one's seen him since! And Mr. Generic is hiding something! Mike talks like a FOX news anchor. Rudy's like, "How do you come up with this shit?" Mike asks Rudy if he thinks Metal-Detector Guy's death was really an accident, because he saw Conrad go into the woods the day he died. Rudy's like, "Step off, bitch. I'm the sheriff." But then when Mike slinks off, he radios the police station and asks Perky Secretary to look up a missing-person report on Mr. Levy.
At the Hash 'n' Whore, Mike asks Zane to keep an eye on Sam because he's suspicious of Conrad. Zane's like, "Stalk Sam? Okay!"
Gazette office. Hey! There's a black guy! A black guy on Glory Island! And he talks and everything! He tells Mike that the Portland paper is sending over a newspaper piece about Mr. Levy's disappearance. Just then, Mr. Generic comes in and asks to speak with Mike in private. He tells Mike that Conrad had some drug-related problems in Portland. "Is that why he was fired?" asks Mike. Mr. Generic nods. "It's, frankly, why we moved. I just thought a new beginning would change everything. It's a second chance for my family." Mike apologizes for being an overzealous news reporter. "Just one thing, though," says Mike, and mentions the fact that Mr. Levy, Conrad's boss, went missing two days after Conrad was fired. "Really?" says Mr. Generic. "I don't know anything about that." Mike stares at him. "I see," he says. Then Mike goes back to working on one of his other stories: "Ladies Auxiliary Club Holds Luncheon, Denies Knowledge Of Ritual Killings."
Then Mike goes over to Kreepy Koroner Kottage and bugs Ellie about Metal-Detector Guy's death. "I can't discuss that with you," says Ellie. "Rudy already told me he was murdered," says Mike. Ellie: "He did?" says Ellie. Mike: "So I'm right?" D'oh!
