8:00: And here comes Ricky. What will he open with?

8:01: "So where was I?" Being funny, we hope.

8:02: "The Golden Globes are to the Oscars are what Kim Kardashian is to Kate Middleton." An easy Kardashian joke.

8:05: Ricky seems to be holding back a bit. Penis and beaver jokes? Really? Audience seems a bit more with him, though. Maybe just waiting for the hammer to fall.

8:06: Kardashian again? C'mon Ricky, move on. The rest of us have.

8:07: An insight into what's on Ricky's TiVo -- Boardwalk Empire and Homeland. One out of two ain't bad.

8:08: Wow, we're done with the monologue already? Ricky really is trying to be nicer this year. How disappointing

8:09: Gervais: "Have you seen The Tourist yet?" Depp: "No." Now that was Ricky's finest moment. Asking the tough questions...

8:10: First award of the night: Best Performance by an Actor In a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture. Go Albert Brooks! Choose Albert Brooks.

8:11: Nope, Christopher Plummer wins Supporting Actor instead. The only decent part of that overrated flick. A great victory for the Klingon Empire.

8:16: Best Performance by an Actress In a Television Series -- Comedy Or Musical is up next. Tina vs. Amy! Who will win?

8:16: Whoa, a surprise Laura Dern victory for Best Actress in a Comedy for Enlightened. A show that isn't a comedy. Considering the Globes' history or awarding new girls, I was expecting Zooey Deschanel to get it. But then again, HBO always trumps broadcast.

8:17: "All the whistleblowers out there?" Is Enlightened planning a crossover with Homeland?

8:21: Hey, a Teleprompter malfunction! That's how you know it's the Globes. Things never seem to work right. Anyone else catch the sound screw-up during the pre-show?

8:23: Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television is up next. Downton Abbey has this one in the bag, yes? Especially since it's for Season One.

8:24: Yup, no surprise there. Downtown is so good, even the Foreign Press gets it. (Never mind that it's not really a mini-series.)

8:25: Time for Best Performance by an Actress In A Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television. Getting the categories that no one cares about (aside from the nominees) out of the way first, huh HFPA?
