Thatcher comes back to try to make amends, Richard and Mere face up to just how bad a mother Ellis was, Callie has to deal with the fallout from her father's disastrous visit, and Izzie's mom is a trashtacular Sharon Lawrence. Although at least she means well and wears awesome Barbie-pink shoes, so she's got more going for her than the others do.

Sweet Surrender - Izzie finds a silver lining to her cancer -- you can use it to get everything you want!And in this case, what she wants is for Meredith and Derek to have a giant, which, un-Mere but totally Izzie wedding.

All Choked Up

Elevator Love Letter - Izzie has brain surgery, Cristina learns her limit when it comes to Owen's PTSD, and Derek shaves off his self-pity beard and finally proposes to Meredith.

Facing the Truth

Stand By Me - Izzie does her best to keep the secret of her cancer from her friends while helping Mark with a face transplant surgery, but unsurprisingly it doesn't go very well. In the end it's Cristina the robot who realizes what's most important and spills the beans.

Kindergarten Cop

I Will Follow You Into the Dark - Adele is called in to police her husband when he descends into a full-on temper tantrum at work. It's a shame she can't do the same thing for Derek, who has decided that "drunken cruelty" is the best way to handle his problems. Plus: Finally, mercifully, a diagnosis for Izzie!

Boxing Day

An Honest Mistake - You know you've just watched a depressing hour of this show when Mark punching Derek in the face and Izzie's possible cancer don't even lift your spirits.

Don't Let the Brain Bugs Bite

Before and After - After all of the buildup, there is finally some crossover in the Big Crossover Event. Derek is tasked with taking worms out of Addison's brother's brain, and most of the (ridiculous amount of) doctors in this episode have an opportunity to think about the people they once were and the people that they are now.
