Izzie finds Alex in the locker room getting ready to leave, and after she asks him about how his surgery went, she hands over the scans. He's absolutely thrilled that things are so good, and grabs her in a bear hug. Izzie smiles, and seems to be content that things are now going to all be okay, and she says to Alex that it's like the cancer never happened. Alex, though, reminds her that it did all happen -- the cancer, marriage, dying, coming back, and then her ditching everyone and coming back. Almost awed, he says first that they made it through and then amends it to, "I got through it." Izzie is still happily holding him as he tells her how much he loves her, because until he met her he didn't think he was a good guy on account of his upbringing, but now he knows that he's a good man. He thanks her, and then he pulls out of the hug and adds that he knows he's good enough not to deserve this. The smiles falls right off of Izzie's face as he explains that he should haven't to feel like he loves her so much he almost hates her, and that he deserves someone who will stay. Good for you, Alex! Not just because I don't like Izzie specifically, but even if she was someone else I wouldn't support the running off because of a mistake and then the staying gone and worrying everyone until it suited her to come back and pick up like there would be no consequences to her actions. Alex tells her that he's happy she's okay and has a job (probably thinking of Tacoma, here) and then tells her, "I want you to go. And be happy. And not come back." She's absolutely horrified, and they just sit there. Seriously Izzie, go!! Don't come back!
