The alarm on Meredith's phone goes off the next morning, and she sits up from where she was sleeping next to the door. Cristina is still on the other side and asks how she is feeling, and Mere admits she's even worse. Cristina orders her to get up and open the door and though Mere protests, she finally does it. Cristina walks in as Meredith turns and vomits again, and Cristina rubs her back. But once she's done she announces that this is the last time Mere is going to throw up. "Mind over matter."
Jackson is up and ready and knocks on his mom's door, calling that she was right. But when the door opens, Richard is there in a bathrobe, and both men are thoroughly confused -- Jackson because he thought this was his mom's room and Richard because he thought this was room service. They have an awkward chuckle and Richard closes the door, leaving Jackson to look around and study the room numbers. Finally, he knocks again. This time his mom opens the door in nothing but Richard's shirt, and she's holding out the pencil and tells him, "Good luck, baby!" He's as horrified as anyone would be to catch their mom and their boss in such a situation, and she just gently closes the door. Inside the room, she and Richard begin to laugh gaily over Jackson's trauma and give each other a huge hug. These two do make me happy.
Hey, so did you all hear that Patrick Dempsey is a hero? My very favorite thing is that the kid's mom actually realized when he said his name that he was McDreamy. Awesome job, McDreamy.
That said, I just can't bring myself to call him McDreamy at all these days within the context of the show, even when I have moments of actually kind of liking him, like now. He looks wiped out as he sits with Zola, who is playing at the coffee table in what appears to be... a bumblebee costume? He chats to her that they made it through the night, and hopefully Mere will now pass the Boards. Lexie walks in and asks about the costume; Derek explains that Zola threw up on all of her other clothes. Lexie walks over and sits down immediately spills to Derek that she misses Mark so much. He rubs her back as she starts to cry that she keeps trying to tell him that she still loves him, but each time she does nothing comes out, and everything is terrible right now. Derek just continues to rub her back and assures her that everything will be okay, though I don't think she believes it.
Teddy finds Owen looking sad, per usual, though this time she actually seems to really see it. He snaps at her, asking what it is, and she tentatively tells him that Cristina just texted that she's about to take the test and she feels good. "I just thought you'd want to know." She then runs off and he opens his mouth to say something, but no words come out.
