The Best of Intentions

Meredith and Cristina, grossed out by the idea of cafeteria jambalaya, are raiding April's fridge for lunch. Meredith complains about Derek's freaking out but there seems to be a tiny grain of doubt in her head when she tells Cristina she's sure the girl is fine. Cristina complains about spending the morning with "Owen's" stupid nurse; Meredith notices the Freudian slip there and doesn't want to let Cristina brush it off. She's saved by the arrival of Alex, and asks him how long he's been hooking up with Morgan. Alex acts appalled at the very idea, while Meredith truly IS appalled at the idea. He maintains that she's both a patient and his intern so there's no way, but obviously the whole intern/resident/attending divide hasn't stopped anyone else in this hospital. They tease him that this is going to end up like it did with Ava: Morgan will fall for him and then go crazy. This truly pisses Alex off, and he storms out.

Once they are alone again, Mere tries to get Cristina to talk about Owen but they are interrupted by April coming in and shrilly freaking out when she finds them eating all her food. Jackson then comes in and yells at her to stop Facebooking with his mom, but she shoots back that she defriended (how has Word not added these things to its spellcheck yet?) Catherine when Jackson told her to last time. He wants to know how his mom could possibly know details about his life, then. Mara then joins the fray, searching for Jackson, and April happily points him out so that he has to go continue his tour. Everyone leaves and Mere once again tries to bring up Owen, but Cristina refuses to talk about it and just says she's fine in that angry way that says she is anything but.

Out in the hall Mara suggests that they go to the cafeteria to get some food and talk, but Jackson turns around and starts to give her the, "You're great, but I'm not interested," talk that everyone always loves hearing. However, he actually had it wrong. After thoroughly offending Mara by suggesting (as she puts it) that she was presented to him like a "concubine" for one night, she yells at him that his mom forced her to come to try and get all the dirt about what is going on in his life and she's doing it because she's sucking up to get a good grade. It's good to see that the goings-on at other hospitals are just as professional as those at Seattle Grace Mercy West. Jackson is totally embarrassed when he realizes she was just a spy, but Mara is thoroughly incensed and yells at him that as he knows how demanding his mom can be, he might help her out and give her some info to bring back. She yells that he also might do this in the cafeteria because she is starving. He tells her, "Not a chance," but of course he's only referring to the part about the cafeteria, since it's jambalaya day. He tells her conspiratorially to come with him.
