The gang is all in with Nikki Jones and her husband, who are the couple whose unborn baby has his heart growing on the outside. Her husband seems to be making the most of it, insisting their son isn't weird, he's "one of a kind. Wearing his heart on his sleeve." He seems like the kind of like the mythical L.A. personality that Addie keeps referring to -- of course I kind of want to smack him.
Richard explains the surgery to them by saying it will be like a dance -- Addison and Alex will deliver the baby, Bailey will stay behind to close Nikki's incision while Addison takes the baby to OR 2, where Hahn will work on putting the heart back into his chest while Addie tackles the intestinal problem. The who in thewhat now? Nikki (who seems sweet and likeable and more grounded than her husband) is confused since they've never mentioned this before, and Bailey admits that there might be a defect on the diaphragm and they want to be prepared. Nikki tells them she wishes she could keep the baby inside her and protected, to which her husband leans in and declares that the baby will be protected no matter what by their love. Alex watches skeptically and I must admit that I have the same look on my face.
Outside, Alex says he wants to punch the guy but Addie looks at it as growth that he didn't actually do it. Cristina conversationally says to Hahn, "Hippies. Annoying, huh?" She's my soulmate -- I said the very same thing to the tv screen earlier. But Hahn isn't interested and orders her to go away. Addie laughs at this as Callie walks up and they have a whole, "How great is she? Really great!" exchange. Hahn asks if Callie told her, there's a whole lot of talking and glances and inside jokes and information between them and it's screaming "more than friends." Especially when Callie tells Addie that she's divorced and Hahn prompts her to admit that it's the best thing that could have happened. There's more maniacal giggling from the two while Addie stares, shell-shocked. Let's take a moment to consider all of the kinds of changes that have occurred, shall we? Oh wait, it will only take a second -- they're all breakups. Because Lord knows couples can't actually make things work and people can't change in other, positive ways in the world of Seattle Grace.
