Taub the Good Liar is assigned to lie to Maggie that the bag of what is probably placebo-rific saline he's hooking up to her is the cure for what ails her, and that Jane can't come back into the room until Maggie's made-up illness is no longer infectious. Taub says that she should be feeling better in a matter of minutes. While they're waiting, Taub gets all involved in Maggie's life, saying he thinks it would be good for Jane if her mother had a few secrets from her. Maggie disagrees.
The rest of the Cottages are hard at work playing foosball with Jane. Kumar wants to up the Secret Santa spending limit. Agnes says that he must really like whoever he picked, but Jane says that it might be the opposite: Maggie always gets the best presents for the teachers Jane doesn't get along with. If I were a teacher, that would just make me yell at Jane all the time so that I'd get a sweet present. Agnes and Foreman both realize that Kumar picked House and are shocked. Jane takes advantage of their distraction to score a goal. Agnes and Foreman both say there's no way Kumar could have picked House, and then wonder how they all know that, unless...
"You gave them all your name?" Wilson asks. Yes, House says, yes, he did. And I can't believe I didn't think of him doing that. Of course he would! That's so great. House says that he'll make the members of his team hate each other and get some presents at the same time. What could go wrong?
Kumar thinks they should still get House the presents, but Foreman refuses. Foreman's probably feeling pretty ashamed of himself for not realizing that this was a possibility. He should know House better by now. For that matter, so should Agnes, since she's the House Whisperer and all. Jane weighs in: "He wants presents. It's sad." "It's pathetic!" Agnes spits. You know, if House is so pathetic, why did you want to work for him so bad? Put up or shut up, Agnes. Kumar says that he's still going to buy House a present. Agnes bites his head off, saying that no one is buying House a present. Kumar agrees, while mentally compiling a House gift list.
And then Maggie's throat closes up. Taub yells for a nurse, but since they apparently fired Evil Nurse Brenda, none are forthcoming. Taub looks down Maggie's throat and sees that her swollen lymph nodes have cut off her airway. Maggie, for what it's worth, seems to be taking her inability to perform a vital function calmly. Janel Moloney might want to rev it up a little bit and stop being so mellow.
