Because her resulting psychological problems are manifesting themselves into a real physical condition that could kill her. Her doctors can't help Alex if they don't what's going on. And the fact that Dad hasn't walked out of the bathroom already is enough to tell you that he did, in fact, sleep with his own daughter. Just for good measure, though, he admits it: "One time."
