Black-clad goons rappel off a roof and bust through the windows of a building. Into the Firm's offices. They've got guns and helmets and masks. One sees a coffee that's still steaming. Winston peeps out from a crack in something. And we cut to...

Six YEARS earlier? Seriously? I suppose this is what they've been working toward with all these "four hours earlier" captions. Well, I'm glad they had a plan. But I would appreciate it if they have another gimmick next season. If they have another season, that is.

Anyway, we're six years ago. Winston drinks coffee at a bar. Chance (wearing a suit) walks up next to him and says "I'll have what he's having." That turns out to be an Irish Coffee with a double shot, which is the sort of thing that happens when you don't know what you're actually ordering. Chance asks Winston if he's had a hard day and introduces himself as Conrad Hall. Winston says he's "Winston," which Chance gets him to specify is his last name. He claims that his first name is "Detective." Chance pushes for his actual first name name, and Winston gets irritable, pointing out that a cop who's drinking alone at 2:30 in the afternoon is probably not in the mood to be somebody's new best friend.

Chance claims to be a prosecutor. Winston isn't interested. Chance elaborates that he's an "Assistant US Attorney" and says that he's been questioning his choice of profession. After some interaction, Winston lets his guard down and drops his first name: LaVerne. He's a little belligerent about it. As well he might be. I'm just assuming there's a capital V in the middle there. Chance offers to let Winston call him "Connie" (short for "Conrad," which is his fake identity, remember?) if it will help.

Modern day. Goons creep through the offices. One sees a shadow behind the couch, but it's just Carmine, the dog. He prepares to shoot Carmine (Noooooo!), but another goon appears behind him. This goon is wearing the vest, mask, and helmet, but the jeans and bare feet don't match the uniform. Chance (for it is he!) beats up the goon. He tells Carmine not to get up, and the dog just looks at him happily. We see Winston shoot another goon, then Chance kicks one downstairs. Unfortunately, Guerrero and Winston are now in the center of a ring of gun-toting goons on the bottom floor, so Chance probably has to stop the resistance.

Now our three heroes have their hands tied behind their backs as a suave gentleman in a goatee walks in.
