Some time later (but not as late as the modern-day segments), the cops sit up sheepishly, rubbing their heads as Winston looks at them with exasperation. They're pretty sure she wasn't just being kidnapped, since she may have hit one of them with a frying pan. Winston reflects on the nitwits he's forced to work with.
Goatee is now interrogating Winston, who explains why he stayed on the police force for the next few days, saying "I didn't wanna quit until I found out where he took her." Meanwhile (in the past!) Chance has brought Katherine to a very nice safehouse. He talks to her about how bad-ass his boss is. And he emphasizes that until they figure out who "Leonore Fortier" is, this won't end.
Katherine enters the bedroom in a robe. Chance, sitting on the floor, says the bed's all hers. She sits down next to him and talks about how that morning, she knew who she was. "I wake up tomorrow, it's like there's nothing left." "Nothing?" asks Chance, offering her one of the burnt cookies. She takes one and cries and falls asleep leaning on him.
After some commercials, a black-gloved hand opens the front door. Chance wakes up. "Hold it." Chance holds a gun on the intruder. "Hey, dude." It's Guerrero. Hi, Guerrero! He apparently also works for The Old Man, although it might not be a regular thing. He says Chance is off the reservation and asks why he doesn't just kill her.. "She hasn't done anything wrong." "Who cares, man?" See, because Guerrero is a sociopath.
Chance continues to point a gun at Guerrero, who gets fed up with all this hassle. "Fine. Not cool." He kicks the gun out of Chance's hand, then grabs it and points it at him. Then Chance fights back and ends up with the gun. "Don't make a whole thing out of it," says Guerrero as he stares down the barrel of the gun.
Katherine comes out of the bedroom and puts her hand on Chance's arm. He has Guerrero stand up and turn around, then whacks him with the butt of the gun. Guerrero crumples.
