Prentiss scrambles for his dead goon's gun, but before he gets it, Chance is out of the pool and holding the other goon as a hostage. Prentiss says that even if Chance gets out of the room alive, both he and Eddie will be hunted down and killed. Chance looks at him with steely eyes and accuses Prentiss of having Eva's father killed. It wasn't heart failure; it was poison! Prentiss more or less admits it, although he doesn't think Eva will believe it. Chance offers a new wager. He fights Diego Cruz. If he wins, Eddie's off the hook. And if he loses, Prentiss gets the 1.8 million and Eddie. And if Prentiss refuses, there's shooting. Prentiss accepts, and Chance leaves, kicking the cinderblock back into the pool. It somehow got attached to the goon, who goes in after it. Prentiss nearly rolls his eyes. You can't get good goons these days.
Winston opens the door of the suits to see Chance. Impassive. The Theme Song starts up.
In the access hallway, Prentiss hands a hypodermic needle to an ominous bald guy, then tells Eva he's just "guarding against the unforeseen". He authorizes her to bet "whatever you think is appropriate".
Winston tells Chance that he'll pull the plug if Chance needs him to. No response.
It's time for the final fight. The ominous bald guy is the ref. That sounds handy.
Fight! Diego punches Chance in the face. Chance takes a lot of abuse. The camera goes weird and the sound goes wobbly. We go back to the locker room. Winston tells Chance that he knows Chance isn't afraid of The Old Man, that Chance is afraid of what The Old Man might do to somebody close to him, because that's where he's vulnerable. But Winston wants Chance to know that he doesn't go down easy. The music swells, and Chance (back in the fight) is up. Pow! Crunch! Splat! Diego's hurt! The ref gets in Chance's face and says "I believe I'm supposed to be poisoning you now." "I'd rather you didn't." "Say hi to Guerrero for me." "Hello, Frank." It's Frank! A reverse double-cross! Prentiss looks confused.
And then Chance beats the holy hell out of Diego Cruz. Eva recommends that Hugh not try to fix a fight by bribing a ref that's a friend of the opponent. And she knows other things. She was listening on the invisible earpiece to the confession of killing her father, because that's what was in the envelope that Winston asked the concierge to deliver. Awkward. She brings out the receipt for the bet she placed. She bet all of Hugh's money on Diego. Every last dime.
