So Winston doesn't think Guerrero can get Chance a clean ID, since Alaska is very insular. But he does. And he's pretty smug about it, smirking at Winston and asking "Don't you wanna know how I did it?" "No!" "No?" "...Maybe." Guerrero takes a bite of an apple (I haven't been mentioning it much, but Guerrero is almost always eating something.) As Chance is almost to the elevator, Winston tells him to blend in and keep a low profile. "Hey. It's me!" is supposed to sound casual and confident, but what it mostly sounds like is somebody trying too hard to imitate Han Solo.
Alaska! Chance drives a flashy car and wears flashy sunglasses while he listens to his flashy satellite radio. He comes up to a police roadblock, where he tries out his Canadian accent as he hands a policeman his cover. He's Paul Woodruff from the Alaska Bureau of Land and Mine Management. The policeman calls it in and the guy on the other end of the radio has Big Mike drive him. Chance has to get out of his flashy car and gets into a generic black SUV. Goodbye, flashy car! You're not in the rest of the episode, but at least you won't be destroyed in a car chase.
On the other side of the bridge, Big Mike pulls over. Chance follows him out of the car. "We stopping for an particular reason?" Big Mike has spotted a column of smoke. Chance points out that if they're looking for someone, it's weird that they said the island was evacuated. Chance offers to file a report, but Big Mike wants him to sit in the car and not touch anything. Once Big Mike has his shotgun, Chance cheerfully asks if he's got any martial arts training. "Wing Chun. Black belt." I guess that's not a shout-out anymore, is it? Anyway, Big Mike is still talking about how tough he is. "You don't want to find out. Trust me." He looks mean and cocks the shotgun. The next shot is of him laid out, unconscious. Chance grabs the gun and takes off.
Campsite in the forest. Chance studies a campfire and starts going through a backpack. And just then! Jessica jumps on him and tries to stick a hypodermic needle in his neck. Chance rolls on top of her and says "Hi. I'm Christopher Chance. Your mom sent me." So sometimes he tells people his name right away and sometimes he's all secretive about it. She says the hypo was full of morphine and he recommends just using an air bubble. She asks if he's a cop, and he explains that her mother hired him to get her off the island. "I see. You're a mercenary." People on this show have weird feelings about mercenaries. For one thing, they all seem to hate them, even when they're on the right side. Chance ignores her disdain and explains that he plans to get Jessica back to the SUV, and they head off.
