Hawkins Homestead. Darcy and Allison are washing clothes in the sink. Hawkins passes through on his way out to town hall, and speechifies that "people are starting to react to the fact that no one is coming to save them. No one. Because the world [they] knew does not exist anymore." Darcy trades worried glances with her daughter, and then asks her to step outside for a minute. Once Allison is gone, Darcy tears into Hawkins for scaring their kids. I'm sure that Allison was totally unaware that anything was amiss until Hawkins let it slip. Darcy grumps that Hawkins was gone for four years, so she's in charge of the kids. Hawkins distracts her by snagging a photo off the bulletin board. It shows Darcy and the kids. He grumbles that pictures like that "might raise questions about us as a family." Sweet Christ. If someone from this town actually visited the Hawkins family and woke up out of their chronic stupor enough to notice a photo of the family that didn't include Hawkins, would they immediately think, "Holy Crap, the only possible explanation is that these people are lying about who they are!"
Town Hall. Someone complains about trespassers on her property. Good Cop nicely suggests that they've got other priorities. A guy crabs about a busted water main. I think there's a certain pool guy who could deal with that. The same guy asks where Dad is, and Eric explains that Dad's still recovering from the flu. He urges everyone to be patient.
