Justice Served

After Samuels's case is decided, Silas and Samuels have quiet words. It cracks me up how apparently the people in the front of the courtroom are in a cone of silence and the people sitting five feet away can't hear them. It's sort of like how on Happy Days, Joanie and Richie could be having a conversation at the dinner table and Marion couldn't hear them if she was in the kitchen. I never understood that. Anyway, Silas imagines that he sees his mistress in the audience (or does he?) and asks Samuels to join them for dinner that night, perhaps trying to bury the hatchet.

Andrew and William arrive at the palace for dinner. Andrew takes the time to look around, including opening a drawer and peeking inside. William seems quite on edge about the whole thing. They arrive in the dining room, where Rose greets them happily. Silas welcomes them grandly and offers up a toast, then finds out that the Rev won't be joining them for dinner. Once seated, Rose and William have a conversation about getting a position for Andrew in the government. William is pushing for it, while Rose demurs. Andrew is seated next to Silas, examining his silverware weirdly. Is he high? Is he like, "Look at this fork! It's so... fork-like! Have you ever really looked at a fork?" Andrew tells Silas that exile wasn't bad, just empty. I'm totally distracted in this scene, because Silas is supposed to be holding a glass of red wine, but it's clearly grape juice, both due to the color and the bubbles on top. Silas knows something about being denied nice things, since he's eating fish tonight. Hey, there's nothing like a good piece of salmon.

After dinner, Silas finds Rose in the kitchen. She's apparently lost a shoe. How do you lose a shoe? During a dinner party? Silas wonders why they ever pardoned Andrew, but then he's distracted by Rose bending over to look for her shoe and he starts loving up on her. She ends the snuggle by wondering why David got a medal when their own son got nothing. Silas tries to get her back on the sexy track, but Rose puts him off.
