So both couples head for the campsite. They've been given the equipment, but no instructions. Mike struggles to figure out the tent and feels like a loser. Meanwhile, Heather figures it out in like two seconds, because apparently the poles and such are color-coded, so Mike and Samantha are idiots. Why wouldn't they just walk over and ask for help? But eventually they figure it out. Miles and Heather also have their camp stove figured out quickly and start cooking dinner. Mike breaks the kerosene container and has to build a regular old fire. So Miles and Heather are definitely winning at camping. Too bad that doesn't count for anything. Meanwhile, Samantha is like, "Let's just go to bed and give up on the fire" and Mike is annoyed that she's giving up so easily. Could this be a sign of things to come for them? Seriously, do you care yet?

So anyway, it's totally dark and Heather and Miles are asleep I guess, while Samantha and Mike are still trying to get a fire going so that they can eat. Samantha just wants to go to bed, and while I understand her point, they really should eat for strength. Finally, Mike just says that he needs help, and Samantha apologizes and asks what she can do. They work together to get their food cooked and eat it and feel like they are stronger for overcoming adversity. Adversity that they created, to be sure.

The next morning, it's foggy and rainy and miserable looking. They open up their maps and find out that they have to climb a volcano and then swim in a lake to retrieve another map. Ooh, swimming. That won't be good for Miles and Heather.
