Ace: "What I liked about her is that she didn't even worry about Hotel Guy, trying to ramrod her off the elevator like that. Just kept yakkin'."
Gus: "Honestly I was more insulted by his air. Like he was just showing off to impress you with how officious or protective he could be."
Ace: "Yeah, so I'm going to call her tomorrow, remindzzz"
Ace's snoring doesn't matter anyway, because Gus is already asleep, dreaming of his Magical Horse Moment. And all the Moments yet to come.
I guess for Gus, the horse is his unexpected Old Man, a reminder of grace (luck), a sign of purity and possibility that he thought was denied to him. That every part and aspect is not just connected to, but defined by, every other part. I guess to Porky Pig, who doesn't trust Ronnie at all, that would be Leon; I guess for the Degenerates, it's Twitch. Which means that Twitch and Gus's horse, whatever its name is, will be the next to have their faces smashed in.
Next Week: Ace considers dating Joan Allen, comes closer to confronting Dumbledore face-to-face, Rosie returns just in time for an earthquake, Ace disagrees with Escalante about more things, and the double-agenting of Nathan Israel begins.
