Emma: "Mom, can I help you cook whatever you're constantly cooking in every single scene?"
Mom: "If you had a kitchen this fucking gorgeous, you'd live here too. Listen, I heard about your awesome takedown of Char's mom. I just wanted you to know that I hate her and I totally approve, even though it affects our family's social standing."

(She darts in and hugs Emma in this totally furtive, scared way. It's really sad that she is so scared of her daughter; it's really nice every time Emma gets a hug from anybody's mom at all. It makes her so happy.)

FEELING MORE MUSIC

Emma: "Dancing with you on this amazing hillside is really fun. I just wish I wasn't so legendarily shitty at it. We only have three days to teach me this basic fucking dance!"
Ethan: "I think you should try to feel the music more."
Emma: "Mainly what I feel is tremendous pressure, because I am a fraud. A fraud with a dead sister, possibly."
Ethan: "Tell me more about all your feelings."
Emma: "I'm kind of covetous because her parents are so great and they keep hugging me, and Laurel's pretty awesome, and Mads is so cool, and Char is... Well, she means well. So it's like I have everything I ever wanted, but I'm just borrowing it. Or stealing it, if Sutton died last episode."
Ethan: "Wow, that is a lot of feelings. Just feel this music, okay?"
Emma: "...Yeah, okay. Sorry I was bitching about having the perfect life."

UPSTAIRS: SUNDAY NIGHT

Char: "My mom got so drunk at lunch that my dad had to come home and take care of her! Eight hours later, she's still sick! I think she might die this time! I'm just glad I can help you guys with your makeup for that dance I can't go to."
Mads: "Did you think that maybe your insane mother did this to punish you and take away your father-daughter father?"
Char: "That's obviously what happened, silly! Now let me do your makeup and sew your dresses and shine your shoes and slowly die inside! I can't do that when you're squirmin'."
Emma: "Char, don't be stupid. You can obviously come with me and my dad. We're taking Laurel along anyway so it's not like it's that exclusive."
Char: "Okay, I brought my dress just in case you'd say that! Desperation can be a way of life!"
