(Emma charges into his brother's office for some crazy reason.)
Emma: "I am so done with this. I am my own twin sister, okay? I'm Emma Becker, I'm impersonating Sutton Mercer, and I think she's in trouble..."
Cop Brother: "-- I know what this is. It is a Lying Game."
Sutton: Sorry I didn't text earlier, but shit got weird. Get online now.
Emma: "...Yep, you saw right through my deception. Sorry."
Cop Brother: "No wonder everybody fucking hates you. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a big corrupt date with Adrian Pasdar."
Ethan: "He didn't believe you at all, right? So that was super stupid and we should just stick to the plan?"
Emma: "Not that anything you say registers, but yeah. Fine. Let's go talk to your girlfriend, she's online right now and not dead."
IT'S A MADS'S HOUSE. A MADS'S HOUSE!
Mads: "Um, what are you going to do when we graduate and you don't have your two friends anymore?"
Char: "Most likely commit suicide! You're the only family I have, it's so fun!"
Mads: "Then consider me held emotionally hostage."
Char: "Done and done!"
Mads: "Ugh, my stupid dad keeps calling. I guess I'll ignore him. Unless he threatens to cut me off, too, and then my values will undergo a radical reassessment."
Char: "I wish you were my dad! And also my mom! And your brother was my brother! And Laurel was our dog!"
Mads: "I never know what to say, in these little moments we sometimes share."
Char: "Hey! Let's eat our feelings!"
I WAS LIVING IN A MERCER TOWN
Parents: "Hey, we were just waiting for you in the living room, no pressure."
Emma: "Yeah, fighting everybody's parents has got me kinda beat, so..."
Parents: "We wanted to talk about this mysterious cellphone we found going through all your shit for no reason. Do you know anybody named Emma?"
Emma: "No. That sounds like something Char would make up. She has many cellphones and goes by many names, it's how she combats the darkness."
Parents: "Are you lying? Are you playing games? Are you playing Lying Games?"
Emma: "No way! Goodnight!"
Parents: "Well, at least she's being nice to us. We don't have to live in abject fear of her like we apparently used to. So she lies about phones and stuff, what of it?"
