Outside, Justin is uncomfortable with Laurel's plan to sneak around. He thinks Ted and Kristin will find out, and it will blow up their faces. Laurel's all, "You have a better idea?" He does not and says all that matters to him is to be with her. She says she feels the same about him and says they just need to sneak around until things cool down.
Back inside, a teacher tells Sutton and Ethan that Derek went home early with "food poisoning."
Club. Rebeccannie is calling the Dowinger Clinic and pressing the staff to give her information about Annie Hobbs' return. She makes some headway just as Kristin walks by and wants to have a chat. Rebeccannie hangs up and notices that Kristin seems stressed. As Kristin explains Sutton's dramatic personality changes, Alec walks up. He and Rebeccannie are like giggling teenagers, so even Kristin catches wise to their blossoming romance. After Alec leaves, she admits she's curious why Rebeccannie would start something up with Alec after the nebulously awful way he treated her through so many years ago. Rebeccannie adopts a definitively minxish undertone in her voice as she tells Kristin she likes that she's been able to come back to town and turn heads. Kristin struggles to keep her head from exploding.
Derek's house. Thayer has joined Sutton and Ethan on the search for Sutton's presumed killer. Derek's mom answers the door and is immediately suspicious that the kids want to buy drugs. She starts to shut the door, but Sutton presents a text book and says she dropped by to drop off his homework. Derek's mom notes that these kids don't look like any friends of Derek's. Sutton tells him about Char and how Derek missed her birthday party a week ago Saturday. Mom thinks out loud that that was the night Derek's car "broke down" at the lake. She says a cop brought him home, and she just assumed he'd gotten into trouble. When they ask which cop it was, it comes out that (as if you couldn't have guessed) it was Dan.
