Inside, Sutton happens upon Laurel and Justin sharing a big smooch in the hallway. She rolls her eyes and gives Laurel a whole lotta crap. Laurel admits she "stretched the truth a bit" with Ted and Kristin and says school is the only place Kristin can't keep tabs on her. Also worth noting, she's totally put an "I'm having a secret affair"-style trench coat on over Sutton's blouse. You can tell Laurel is relishing the chance to express her rebellion through fashion, specifically Sutton's fashion. Sutton does not support Laurel and Justin as a couple, but she does encourage Laurel to lie through her teeth to everyone because, let's face it, this is still Sutton and that's like breathing to her.
Cabin. Emma coaches Thayer on how to play video games. She grabs a remote control, and they go head-to-head as she tells him she picked up her skills not just from sheer boredom the last couple of days but also at the home of one of her 12 foster families. She tells Thayer the broad strokes of her rough life pre-Mercers and how amazing it's been to have a real family for the first time in her life. Thayer apologizes for accusing her of having something to do with Sutton's disappearance. She forgives him by kicking his ass in the game.
School. As Sutton is grousing about how Emma has really screwed her over by being a conscientious student, Ethan spots Derek down the hall. They watch with rapt attention as Derek opens up to his locker, his right sleeve falling back just enough to reveal a snake tattoo. Gasping, they immediately connect it back to Annie. Ethan follows Derek through the corridor and catches up with him to ask politely (translation: throw him into a wall) about what happened the night of Sutton's birthday party. Derek lies that he was home, and a teacher comes in before Ethan can get anything else out of him. Ethan says they'll catch back up with him in a couple hours, which is obviously not going to happen.
Outside, Justin is uncomfortable with Laurel's plan to sneak around. He thinks Ted and Kristin will find out, and it will blow up their faces. Laurel's all, "You have a better idea?" He does not and says all that matters to him is to be with her. She says she feels the same about him and says they just need to sneak around until things cool down.
Back inside, a teacher tells Sutton and Ethan that Derek went home early with "food poisoning."
Club. Rebeccannie is calling the Dowinger Clinic and pressing the staff to give her information about Annie Hobbs' return. She makes some headway just as Kristin walks by and wants to have a chat. Rebeccannie hangs up and notices that Kristin seems stressed. As Kristin explains Sutton's dramatic personality changes, Alec walks up. He and Rebeccannie are like giggling teenagers, so even Kristin catches wise to their blossoming romance. After Alec leaves, she admits she's curious why Rebeccannie would start something up with Alec after the nebulously awful way he treated her through so many years ago. Rebeccannie adopts a definitively minxish undertone in her voice as she tells Kristin she likes that she's been able to come back to town and turn heads. Kristin struggles to keep her head from exploding.
