Back in the psych ward, the sleazy guard breaks Sutton out of her room and tells her she has 15 minutes. She snatches up his badge and makes a beeline for Annie's room. There she finds Annie staring at another variation of the same painting she creates over and over again. Sutton closes the door and says gently, "Hi, mom. It's Sutton -- your daughter." Annie gives her a wary look before realizing this is really happening. Sutton wants to know everything immediately, which forces Annie to take a scared step back. She gasps, "The fire..." Sutton says she knows what happened, then Annie tells her, "It's so hard, knowing I killed my own child." Sutton tells her Emma's not dead, but Annie won't believe it. She keeps repeating, "He told me," and angrily commands Sutton not to confuse her. Sutton wants to know who "he" is, but Annie begins screaming for help and yelling, "You're not real! You're not real!" The orderly swoops in and whisks Sutton from the room as Annie cries and mutters to herself.

Meanwhile, Justin comes back to the squat to find Laurel readying his sleeping bag for sexy times. He doesn't immediately pounce on her, so Laurel worries that she may have overplayed her hand. Instead, he tells her he's falling for her and that it feels scary and amazing. She suggests they focus on the amazing part. They kiss.

Hospital. Eduardo wakes in the middle of the night to find Alec sitting in a shadowy corner, as ghoulish folk are in the habit of doing. Alec rises and asks Eduardo what he remembers from the phone call he overheard. Eduardo recites the names Sutton, Dr. Hughes and Annie, but says they're just meaningless names to him. He would have been smarter to say "Nothing" and stop at that, but he's pretty drugged up, so I guess this'll have to do. Alec asks if they're good, whether Eduardo wants anything more from him. Eduardo wheezes, "I want Mads." Foolish, ballerino. Foolish.

Outside, Ethan finds Emma being about as covert as usual as she approaches the hospital. He tells her he wants to make sure she's safe. "Safe from what?" asks Mads, who walks up with Char. Ethan tries to cover for her, but Mads is spitting fire. Emma decides to go try to learn the truth from Eduardo and let the chips fall as they may. They all walk in to find Eduardo in mid-Code Blue.
