That afternoon, Ted shows Justin his new quarters above the golf club. It's a temporary set-up that Justin will earn by working part-time shifts at the club. Justin is truly grateful, though he gets suspiciously anxious when Ted reaches into a crate with a black and gold box on the top. Ted acknowledges that he shouldn't be looking through Justin's stuff and gets to the real business at hand: Keep your damn hands off my daughter, boy. He makes a "joke" about killing Justin, and it's quite obvious that it's not a joke at all. Though he'd probably have to get Alec to do the dirty work.
Later that evening, Ted convinces Kristin to join him on a romantic weekend getaway (-slash-plastic-surgeon's-conference) in Sedona. Their daughters have been so trustworthy of late, it makes perfect sense! Kristin is hesitant but ultimately agrees. Once she and "Sutton" are out of earshot, Laurel's first response says it all: "We are so going to blow the roof off this place!"
Meanwhile, Alec receives a call from Annie. "You lied to me," she spits, telling him about Sutton's visit to the psych ward. Alec sticks to the story he concocted years back -- that Sutton is schizophrenic and has gone off her meds -- but Annie is unconvinced. He moves to Plan B: Guilt trip. He tells her Sutton has a good home with her adoptive family and that Annie's intervention will destroy Sutton's happy ending. Asks Annie, "What about my happy ending?"
Back at the Mercer home, Ted and Kristin have made the quickest escape known to man, and now the up-to-no-good teens are pouring in. Specifically, Char and Derek are dry humping on the kitchen counter while Justin looks through photo albums and "Sutton" prepares snacks. Laurel moves over to the couch so she and Justin can get their dry hump on, too. Emma snarks, "It's all fun until someone ends up in tears." While Justin puzzles over the page (Ted) ripped out of the album, Laurel returns to "Sutton" to gloat about her awesome boyfriend and wonder where Ethan is. Just then Mads and Thayer join the party. Emma signals for him to join her outside. As much as he doesn't like or get Ethan, Thayer recognizes that Emma's sourpuss is because of him. Emma noting his matching sourpuss wonders what happened with Sutton. Thayer assures it was nothing... a series of miscommunications and a terrible mistake -- at least that's what Sutton told him. He updates Emma that he told Sutton to find another place to live and also mentions that Sutton is kidding herself about Ethan because he is so obviously into Emma. While they've been talking, mind you, Thayer has covertly texted Ethan and told him to get his brooding ass over to the party. "Let someone be happy right?"
