School. Laurel is bragging about her perfect boyfriend to "Sutton" when she realizes she's lost her bracelet. Before she can escalate into full panic mode, Emma sees Ethan across the quad and excuses herself to see him. He reports that there's still no news. Emma thinks they should turn themselves in, but he's firmly against it. She thinks the stakes are too high, but he tells her to use her head and realize that plenty of people would jump to the conclusion that she has both the motive and the potential payoff if Sutton suddenly disappeared after they had a fight. It's the first time Emma has realized that things might not be okay with Sutton. Ethan takes her in for the 100th awkward hug of the episode. Is it just me, or has he been a little touchy-feely considering the circumstances?
Over at the lake, a fisherman casts his line, and something pops up very dramatically. Commercials.
Golf Club. "Sutton" finds Thayer and Mads at the pool. While Mads goes to get a drink, Thayer tells Emma he's been checking all over town all day and has come up with nothing. As they chat, Ethan approaches to tell Emma they can leave the club once his shift ends in 10 minutes. Thayer stands up all macho-like and asks (really demands to know) where they're going, which of course doesn't sit well with Ethan. Just as they're getting into it, Dan texts Ethan that they've found the Mercer car.
Alec's office. He tells Rebeccannie it's not the first time Phyllis has been caught driving drunk. Translation: He can't do anything to make this go away. Rebeccannie has other plans -- she wants Alec to suggest a mandatory sentence of rehab, during which time she'll take care of Char. Convenient much? He agrees without batting one of his luxurious eyelashes, then gives Rebeccannie an unctuous smile. What better time to bring up his divorce, she thinks. He doesn't honor that line of questioning, so she moves on, saying pointedly, "It's just so nice to see that you and Ted are still so close after all this time." He tells her he "can't imagine it any other way." Translation: Don't mess with me, woman. She shakes his hand, takes her leave and (I'm guessing) begins to plan a million ways to screw with his head in the upcoming months. I don't know what's going on with this woman, but it seems pretty certain Alec is going to have to be on guard to keep her from upending his world. Speaking of which, he takes out his phone the minute she walks off to call Dr. Hughes and tell her, "Annie showed up in Phoenix... [but] it's not Annie Hobbs."
