Back at the Mercers', Emma -- still wearing her tiara, btw -- is hanging up her dress in the hallway when she spots Ted sliding the ripped out photo album page between some magazines in the living room. Such discretion, these people! She sneaks up after he walks out of the room and grabs the page to see the picture Ted was trying to hide. She is comparing it with the picture of Annie and her when Ethan arrives. She texted him to come over so she could show him the photo. She has learned that Annie is from Scottsdale and that she knew Ted and Alec.
At that moment, Dr. Hughes is printing out the picture of Sutton Alec faxed over. She shows it to an orderly with explicit orders to keep Sutton away from Annie. She goes to check in on Annie, who is furiously at working painting an exact replica of the nighttime sky she painted on Emma's childhood room. This rendition has one more detail, though: A set of twin girls holding hands and looking up at the guiding star. Pan around to Annie's determined face.
Next week: Thayer arrives in Phoenix and is greeted by a swift punch in the face from Ethan. Ted says ominously, "There's no way out of this thing." Alec: "There's always a way." And one of the girls sets eyes on Annie for the first time.
