Kellerman tosses his forceps and a bloody rag aside. He lays his hands on the Rinpoche's arm, sighs, and says, "We did everything we could." As if. Of course, he tells everyone they did a good job. "Personally, I always hated that stupid hat," Wendy says. Finally, a sentiment I can get behind. Kellerman tells them to close up; he's "got a date with a Y.O.D.A."
Yang switches off Mr. Lin's life support and pulls the breathing tube from his mouth. Mr. Lin doesn't sound so good. Gina appears in the doorway. "Poor thing," she says softly, and fishes around for something in her pocket. She pulls out a huge pin with little metal charms strung on it. Pulling off a sacred heart, she presses it into Mr. Lin's hand and closes his fingers around it. And seals her fate, as it were. She crosses herself and backs out of the room.
The Y.O.D.A. skulks into an alcove and glances furtively around. He can't even wait to leave the hospital before downing a handful of pills, pathetic and desperately convenient character that he is. When the Vicodin are safely down the hatch, he heads toward the lobby, unwittingly crossing paths with Kellerman who -- oh, the irony -- is on his way to stop the Y.O.D.A. and his druggy madness.
Yang finds Mrs. Lin in a waiting room and takes a seat next to her. Mrs. Lin stares at the weather report on a small TV mounted on the ceiling. Yang tells her that Mr. Lin is off the support. Mrs. Lin barely nods. "I wish it would rain. He loves his garden so much," she says. Yang tells her that she can go sit with Mr. Lin now. Mrs. Lin shuffles off, and Posner finds Yang sitting there. He tells her to go home. She protests that she has some charts to go over. Posner lays a hand on her shoulder and tells her again to go home.
Dalgety tries calling Gina at home, but gets her machine. I wonder what he needs to tell her so desperately? He clears his throat and starts to ramble, finally saying that he loves her. It's okay -- he can't quite believe he's said it, either.
Cut to outside, where it's 5:58 PM, and we're back at the bus stop. Yang again bends to retrieve Gina's clump of icons. They discover that they both "live off Gary." Gina asks after Mr. Lin. Yang says they've done everything, but she doesn't sound very hopeful.
In the lobby, we watch Joyner get her change scattered all over the floor again. This time, though, we know that the oaf who plowed into her is none other than the Y.O.D.A., all hopped up on goofballs and such.
Dalgety and Kellerman have their exchange in front of the vending machine. Kellerman goes to ask after Thor. Cue the doctor rushing in with the nurse in his arms. Déjà vu with the scenes outside and inside, until the sheet falling over the dead nurse tells us we're seeing new stuff again. Pangborn and Dalgety work together to help a housekeeper with a collapsed lung, as Joyner and Levi try to pry a street sign off a nurse. Inside, Posner repeatedly asks whether anyone has heard from Yang. Fishlips stands and watches the pandemonium around her, at a loss.
