Pamie: A+ | Grade It Now!
YOU GRADE IT
Anything Can't Happen

Pamie: No!
Stee: Djb: you might remember him from such recaps as Gunsmoke...
Djb: It's been awhile. I did Your Show of Shows for the first season on the Dumont Network.
Stee: The Texaco Dramatical Hour.
Djb: I got to recap commercials for cigarettes.
Pamie: "Chesterfield. What goes good after dinner."

Green Day opens the show looking a little like, "Why does every time I do this song feel like the millionth time I've done this song?" The fog machine's in full effect, cascading clouds of white and green all over them as the relatively subdued crowd jumps obediently. The song ends with lots of fire and smoke and cameras angled on their sides.

Pamie: We're opening with Green Day.
Stee: They know they're going to have to walk up there all fucking night.
Pamie: But they're not on a rooftop. Usually the opening bands are on a rooftop somewhere.
Stee: That's in the pre-show. But I canned all that.
Pamie: Nice work.
Stee: This album has spiked the sales for all previous Green Day albums. I looked on Amazon today and "Warning" is like number 100.
Djb: My mom bought her own copy of "Dookie" when I was in seventh grade, because she wanted to hear, and I quote, "what the kids were listening to."
Pamie: You're older than that. You weren't in the seventh grade.
Djb: I was in the seventh grade, Pam.
Pamie: No, I saw Green Day at Lollapalooza and I was in college.
Djb: Shut up.
Pamie: A woman at work told me she used to be a seat filler during the first years of these awards. She'd have to go sit next to, like, Mark Knopfler during breaks.
Djb: Now that person is old.
Stee: The only awards Knopfler wins these days are from the AARP.
Pamie: Yeah, it was the first years.
Djb: He won against Robbie Neville. A solo album by Oates.
Stee: Bach. I've been wondering about Green Day lately. Aren't they really sick of this album by now? And what are they doing to do next? "Fuck it: American Idiot 2"? I mean, what did The Who do after Tommy?
Djb: Or Pink Floyd after The Wall?
Pamie: Well, what did Nirvana do after Nevermind?
Djb: They all killed themselves, Pam.
