"I don't get why people will think it has a chance"

Sars: He is, you're right. Awesomely.

Ryan: I also liked Reaper, but the charm of that show may be in the setup. Still, the writing's good in the pilot, and I love me some Ray Wise. He's sensational as the devil. [And] Greg so deserves his success. Now if he could just take over CBS...

Sars: CSI: Everwood!

Ryan: Amy and Ephram eyeing each other over test tubes -- I love it!

Sars: Which show looks like the biggest crapfest?

Ryan: Where to start? I think Big Shots is a giant stinking pile of doodoo. Sexist jerkboys in the executive suite -- sign me up! Also, Viva Laughlin will fail spectacularly, not because it's a risky idea, but because CBS took a risky idea that was executed with cheeky intelligence and flair in Britain and more or less ruined it. It's such a gutless remake that it makes me cringe every time I think of it.

Then there's Moonlight. The fact that David Greenwalt is just the latest person to exit inspires LOADS of confidence.

Also, Gossip Girl killed part of my soul. But who knows, the kids may love it.

Sars: What's the most out-of-whack hype-to-quality ratio?

Ryan: Pushing Daisies. I get why people like it -- it's impressively constructed. But I don't get why people will think it has a chance. Again, I want the networks to take risks, I want them to take chances. But this show belongs on Showtime or HBO or something like that, where they'll let it be what it is and not care about ratings. Because I think it may just get slaughtered on ABC. It's leading off Wednesday nights -- what? In any case, the show didn't win me over with the pilot. I know it wants to have a heart, but I didn't really feel it, if you know what I mean? Plus my tolerance for preciousness that calls attention to itself is pretty limited.
