As in Part One, the song "I Want To Be Loved By You" plays. It's right after the screening party for Asphalt Jungle, and Marilyn orders her cab to stop at someone's house. I'm calling her Marilyn now, okay? She was Norma Jean before, but now, now it's a whole new recap…and I'm leaving that other recap behind, and I'm like, reinventing everything. Marilyn knocks on the door, and it turns out it's she's looking for Cass Chaplin, a.k.a. Robert Downey Junior Junior. Nobody answers the door, so she comes in through the back and finds Cass in bed with a couple, but it's not clear whether it's an actual threesome kind of thing. "Norma! I want you to say hello to Eddie G -- he's my twin, too!" Eddie G smiles. They never mention this, but this is Edward G. Robinson Jr. Anyway, Marilyn freaks out and runs out before Cass can explain. Marilyn runs home and stuffs her mouth with pills, and then sticks her finger down her throat to puke them up, and how was your day?
She cries into her drink with her agent Vizzini (you know, from The Princess Bride), who says he has a solution. "You need a man to feel safe, to feel loved and…I want to marry you." He says he'll draw up a prenuptial agreement and leave his entire estate to her and nobody else. "Does that make you feel safe?" Marilyn confesses that she doesn't love him that way, but Vizzini doesn't care. "I'm sorry…I could only marry for love, not money," she sobs. Vizzini abruptly drops the subject. Aww, poor Vizzini. "Max Lurie wants to meet with you tomorrow to discuss his new picture," he says. Uh-oh, we know what that means. She has to go see this smarmy actor guy, who seems to have gone out of his way to find the shabbiest trash-and-bottle-strewn bungalow in L.A. to meet her at. Damn, these guys are mean sons-of-bitches.
"It wasn't me, all those times," Marilyn says from the Narrative Beyond. "You're afraid that if you resist all those times, you won't be loved…or wanted." Okay, I think she's been sitting around watching Oprah in the Narrative Beyond. Vizzini calls to tell her she's got the part in Max Lurie's movie. On the studio set, Marilyn and Max do a scene together. You can tell that Poppy Montgomery watched Marilyn Monroe's film scenes really carefully, because she seems to be getting them really well. "That bitch stole every scene we were in," says Max from the Narrative Beyond. In the middle of shooting the scene, Marilyn stops and wants to discuss her role with the director, who totally patronizes her: "You don't have to think about any of these things!" he says. "Just…be Marilyn." Like that's a picnic. Well, as long as you brought a bunch of barbiturates to the picnic, I suppose.
Marilyn goes to the hospital to visit Nutty Mother, and brings her a big fruit basket. Oh, just what they need in a mental hospital -- a basket. "You smell," says Nutty Mother. Marilyn explains that it's probably her hair bleach. She shows Nutty Mother more pictures of herself in magazines. Nutty Mother is having kind of a lucid day. "Huh," she says. "Does your father know about this…this Marilyn?" Marilyn gets excited at the mention of him and asks Nutty Mother to tell her his name. "No…" says Nutty Mother casually. "Please? It would help me so much!" says Marilyn. "Hmm…no," says Nutty Mother, who goes back to picking at her fingernails. Then, in a new scene, Marilyn's picking at her own fingernails, and holding a razor blade to her neck. A man says, "You don't want to do that," and he takes the razor away, and Marilyn breaks down sobbing. Oops, but it's just the final scene in the movie she was shooting. Ha ha!
