Marlena's Life Is Hard

Days Of Our Lives

So, cut to Melaswen (hee hee), where all the dead people are wandering around and talking about being dead. And I have to just say that the Wikipedia entry about this entire storyline is HILARIOUS, and you have to read it. It includes the phrases, "Cassie was stabbed to death and placed in a piñata on Thanksgiving"; "Tony DiMera was mauled by a tiger the killer let loose at a fundraiser where he had promised to reveal the Salem Stalker's identity"; and "Alice...was suffocated by one of her homemade donuts that had brought joy to the people of Salem since the beginning of the show." Now I am REALLY SAD I didn't watch this whole story line. Suffocating donuts! Anyway, over on the Island, Victor Kiriakas helpfully tells Caroline Brady thusly that he's worried about his family: "They all think we're dead, when we're really all being held hostage on this island." Thank God he explained that! He's also been thinking about the kiss he shared with Caroline earlier: "I shouldn't have taken advantage. Can you forgive me?" he asks her. Oh, yes, John Aniston. Yes, we can. I love you and your powerful man-eyebrows.

Inside the Melaswen version of the town bar, the man I know as Dylan McKay's father, Jack McKay, but who is now Roman Brady, is tending bar, in what I believe is a nod to the fact that he USED to play a bartender on this very show, if I am remembering things correctly, which I might not be. I do know that he used to play a totally different character, though. I also know that Dylan was very upset when he thought his father was dead, just as Roman Brady is supposed to be. And just like Roman Brady's, of course, Jack McKay's death was faked. The circle of life, people. Anyway, everyone looks very clean and chipper considering that they're hostages. Roman says something about something that I can't quite understand. He doesn't trust someone or something, or something. I don't know. At any rate, he thinks "Lockhart" knows something "about this sick mind-control that made [Abe] believe [he] murdered [them] all." The fact that that line was delivered while they're all in Hawaiian shirts at a bar makes it all the more delightful. Marlena looks troubled, as usual, and Abe wonders if she's okay. SHE'S PRESUMED DEAD AND BEING HELD ON AN ISLAND, ABE! I think it's safe to assume that she's a little perturbed. Although at least she's not possessed by the devil again. So, Marlena sighs -- and I am probably the only person in the world to think, ever, about her, "How funny. Deidre Hall was in Our House with Shannen Doherty, and then Shannen Doherty was in 90210 with Jack McKay and now Jack McKay is back on Days with Deirdre Hall! Indeed, we are all connected!" -- and says she can't forget "being in that coffin."
