MONDO EXTRAS
Do No Harm: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Snide
Jason goes into his huge office, opens up a safe and pulls out the only thing in there: an ancient flip phone. He uses it to dial someone named Olivia and just says, "Olivia, he's out." You wouldn't keep that phone at home? And not at work?
Later, random interns question him about the woman with the abuse injuries, but while they are doing that, Donald starts foaming at the mouth in a full on seizure. He nearly crashes, but they are able to save him.
Jason immediately storms into Phylicia Rashad's office, but she's meeting with that prick Dr. Jordan. He's not only a dick, but also a tattletale, sitting there talking about all of Jason's crazy behavior. Jason dismisses his concerns and explains that he wants to operate on Donald again, even though it's dangerous. Dr. Jordan unsurprisingly thinks this is a terrible idea and they could damage his other senses. The two stubborn doctors butt heads for a while, but Dr. Young shuts that shit down. She says that Jason has never performed this before and has an unblemished record and this would get their hospital nationally ranked, so she allows it.
We then see Jason on a train heading... west. Is this the same day? If so, it's been Jason's most productive since we've met him. There's a skinny blonde on the platform waiting for him. She's worried that he is really Ian, so he has to answer a question about how they would travel to opposite ends of the earth and then meet up so she could enjoy the day and he'd spend the entire night with her because of time zones or something? I'm sure there's a logic to it, but like time travel, I start trying to figure the logistics out and my brain dies. Train Station Girl was the aforementioned Olivia, and she gripes that she never wanted to see him again. He says that he's trying to get her to safety because Ian will come after her. Olivia says that she's been getting her life back together for five years and she won't let either personality destroy her. She hands him an engagement ring, which is very small considering the amazing apartment he can afford. Guess maybe times were tougher for him five years ago? Olivia's living with someone else now and doesn't want anything to do with him. She's got a giant scar over her eye, and Jason looks sad. She "releases" him of his obligation to her, despite his insistence that Ian will not stop obsessing over her. And, for that matter, all of this (aside from the ring exchange) could have been done over the phone.
