MONDO EXTRAS
Sweet Home Alabama
Mabel needs some minor surgery because the baby's shoulder is lodged against her pelvis; Brick reluctantly helps and agrees to take care of the baby after it comes out. And all works out nicely, and mother and baby are totally fine. Zoe gives Mabel a little pep talk, and tells her that she's so strong. Mabel's mom storms in all pissed off, but Mabel stands up to her and tells her to go straight to hell.
Zoe starts rethinking leaving, and Mrs. H pleads with her to stay. But Zoe doesn't think she'll ever fit in. But Mrs. H, has the answer about Harley that Zoe's been looking for. It's a photograph of Harley with her mother. So Zoe's dad is really Harley. Real big shocker there. She finds her mother with a limo (one mystery sort of explained) and confronts her with the picture. Zoe realizes that her father is such a jerk to her because he knew that Zoe wasn't his kid. Turns out when she was a little kid there was a blood test, and he figured it all out. Mom says she met Harley on a cruise in Greece and had a fantasy fling with him, while she was engaged to surgeon dad. She says she did everything to protect Zoe and wants her to go home to work things out in therapy. Zoe essentially tells her to go to hell as well.
More voiceover time. Zoe is at Harley's grave, complaining about all of the quirks of the small town (lack of sex-ed, fried food) and she thanks him for believing in her. And starts crying. She walks all around town (still in her Louboutins... does she not own sneakers? Flats?) and then goes to work on a set of troublemaking twins.
Well, that was... about as terrible as I thought it was. I like the actors enough to keep watching it, but I know I'll only be tuning in to make fun of it. It's so generic and unoriginal, that I can't imagine it lasting more than a season, but that's probably more than it actually deserves.
