MONDO EXTRAS
Mercy Killing
I'd wager people who store half-empty booze bottles around their homes like squirrels and can't stop saying "gin rickey, gin rickey, gin rickey" probably know how to throw an awesome party.
Snivelly Doctor walks over to Ronnie to introduce Dr. Sands, the hospitals newest doctor, who surprisingly has an air of competence surrounding him. Ronnie kind of refuses to look at him and they both act all weird, so you know something's going down.
The two of them go to see Liver Failure Woman, who is in her room surrounded by her family, all of whom are still insisting she go through with painful surgery ordeals even though she is ready to die. They discuss surgeries and the woman is resigned to it all to be strong for her kids, and then Ronnie and Dr. Sands walk out of the room to disagree about it, of course. He wants to do the surgery; Ronnie wants to let her give up, if she wants to. Ronnie tries to do her signature storm off, when Dr. Sands suddenly grabs her and pulls her into another room and they start making out like crazy. Apparently they've done this before. He seems to be the guy in Iraq she fell in love with, and he transferred to Mercy just to be with her. You came all the way from Iraq for Ronnie, Dr. Sands? What's wrong with you? She tells him she's back with Mike, and yells at him for telling her he loves her and getting a job at her hospital to be with her, because Ronnie is horrible. I don't understand how anybody loves her, really.
She and Sonia go outside to discuss these developments, and Sonia is very concerned with the logistics of having sex in the desert, but Ronnie is focused on choosing between the two men who are madly in love with her even though she doesn't deserve it. Then Sonia says, "If you need to blame somebody, blame the terrorists," and I just spit my own gin rickey all across my computer screen.
Ronnie walks into a patient's room as Chloe is administering an IV, and is impressed that she seems to be doing such a good job for once. Until the patient starts coding, of course. Chloe messed up the dosage, because she's an idiot, you see. Ronnie puts something else in his IV and he wakes up very suddenly, and pukes on Chloe, who screams. Heh. That's what you get for Hello Kitty scrubs.
Anyway, what happened was, one of the moron doctors misplaced a couple decimal points on the guy's prescription dosage, which apparently happens all the time.
