The Tannest Teenagers In Tan-Teenageville

Later, back at HQ, Fulton sentences FOT to more work, but tells Troy he has to put on a tie and make an appearance of some sort. Of course, you'll remember, Troy tried to set up dinner with Gabi earlier. Predictably, it turns out that Troy has been summoned for a fancy-pants dinner with the Evans brood, who are dining in the Boring Room where Kelsi is playing blandly on the piano, boring the crapola out of even herself. Apparently, this dude the Evanses are eating dinner with has...something to do with the "University of Albuquerque" (doesn't exist anymore, FYI), where Sharpay helpfully exposits that her father is on the board. When congratulated on the championship, Troy tries to share the glory with FOT and Back-Row Jason, who are currently waiting on Troy and the Evanses, but Sharpay won't hear of it, insisting that Troy is just being modest. I'll give her this: she's not subtle.

Kelsi continues playing and yawning as we move to later in the evening, where the U of A basketball program is under discussion. Daddy Evans is promising that he could arrange a scholarship, but Troy tries for the escape so he can get back to his friends. Daddy Evans won't hear of it -- they haven't discussed golf yet! Sharpay shares the news that Troy is also a talented on-stage canary, which Troy looks like maybe he...would not have mentioned. The family tries to get him to demonstrate, but he again makes a desperate attempt to get away from the table. Sharpay strong-arms him into promising that someday, he'll sing with her. Cornered, he agrees.

Later, Troy makes his way into the kitchen, still in his little blue schoolboy blazer, and he attempts a primal scream, which comes out very Disney-tastic, like his whole body has been numbed from the waist down, so he can't put his you-know-what into it when he screams. He then looks down at his watch and dashes from the kitchen out to the...unoccupied veranda next to the pool? Anyway, Gabi is out there gathering up the towels, not at all pissed that he's late for their date -- in fact, she compliments his tie. He runs off to finish getting ready, and while he's gone, Taylor (who is with Gabi gathering towels) lectures Gabi about how she shouldn't just accept her guy being an hour late like this. Taylor thinks that Troy clearly has "boy disease." It's a good thing they're not kissing, then! Those red bumps take a long time to go away. This leads to a lecture on a set of Rules (oh, goody) that Taylor's older sister has in place for situations just like zzzzz. Seriously, let's get on with it, y'all. Upshot? Taylor is not happy about Troy's bad-boyfriend-ness, if someone you haven't kissed can be considered a bad boyfriend or any kind of boyfriend at all.
