Spring Break Bug Attack

Locusts

Speaking of B.J., he's driving a load of corn toward the barn (or silo, or whatever -- I live in a brownstone, I know nothing from farms), when he notices a couple of calves that have not yet been put in the barn. With no thought for his own safety, he stops the tractor and runs over to them. He's clearly from the Jonathan Kent school of farming.

Back at Fort Knox, General Jackass tells Xena that they have been ordered back to D.C. She tells him that she needs to go to Indiana to survey what's happening on the ground, and after a long staredown, he orders a soldier to get her a vehicle. She's totally practicing for her appearance on Celebrity Poker Showdown as she raises the stakes and tells the general that Peter is coming with her. General Jackass isn't about to let a prisoner in federal custody walk away with Xena, but Peter tells him, "General, this is as much my mess as anybody's." Um, it's a hell of a lot more your mess than anybody else's, Peter. Peter tells the general that he needs to get to the front lines to collect some samples. Xena offers to take full responsibility for Peter. And I have to say, Lucy Lawless is generally fine in this thing, but whenever she has to act like someone who's acting (you get my meaning), she's just awful at it. General Jackass gives in, however, and Xena and Peter take off.

Moist Dan is just driving his truck into Indiana. There's one of a long series of announcers issuing a locust advisory on the radio. I only note this one because I am 99% certain that General Jackass is providing the voice.

Xena and Peter are also driving to Indiana. The Army didn't give them a jeep or a truck. Instead, they seem to have found a rental car they could take. Peter gets a call from Mrs. Axelrod. He's worried that it's bad news about Skinny, but it turns out that Skinny has woken from her skateboard-induced coma. I'm so glad Peter got that news before he died. Whoops, that's a spoiler. My apologies to the three people reading this who did not know that the Frankenstein monster always kills its creator. Skinny tells Peter that she's feeling a little tired. Didn't she just wake up? When she asks where he is, he tells her that he's out looking for the locusts. Way to reassure your daughter, Peter. Just before he hangs up, we see that the car has just crossed the Vernon town line.

Xena, Peter, and their Avis rent-a-car arrive at B.J.'s spread while he is still leading the calves to the barn. This is one of the smallest infractions of the laws of time and space that occur in this movie, so I'll let it slide. Wonder Woman action music plays as Xena runs towards her father. Peter goes into the back of the car, where he has a small sample-collecting kit.
