That Title Is "Lois," Then "Clark"

Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman: Pilot

Newsroom. Lois is sniffing a coffee pot while raggedy Cat is eyeballing Clark as he walks by with Jimmy, who is giving him a tour of his new workplace. It sounds pretty useless. The room, he says, has sections just like the parts of the newspaper. Lois is about to pour some honey bear honey on a spoon when Cat Scoggins whistles lewdly and makes a retarded ferret face. "Who's the new tight end?" she says in a female impersonator-low voice. Lois makes a lame remark and Cat takes off her coat to reveal a really scary latex-and-straps contraption that probably was a reference to something Madonna was wearing at the time. It's just short of giant gold nipples. Cat fingers her eyebrows, adjusts her cheeks, and rubs her teeth with her finger. Sexy, lady. As Clark approaches, Cat turns dramatically and introduces herself, shoving her hand up to Clark's face to kiss. She tells him she's Catherine Grant of "Cat's Corner." Clark takes her hand, but doesn't kiss it. Dude, this lady's crazy like she's spent too much time in the kitty litter. Clark says he reads her column. Cat says that her reputation precedes her. "Among other things," Lois snarks, nonsensically. Cat makes a pass at Clark, telling him she knows what it's like to be new and lonely. She plays with his tie and offers to show Clark "around." Around her uterus. Clark calls her by her last name and she tells him to call her "Cat," but she growls it enough to scare my own cats. "Cat," Clark cheerily mocks. He asks for a rain check. Cat pats him on the shoulder and walks away, saying it's a date. It is? Lois slams a drawer and takes her coffee as if somehow this is totally disgusting to her. Clark can't win. When everybody's gone, Clark playfully says "Cat!" to himself. It's pretty funny.

Later, Clark goes to his desk and overhears (without using his superhearing) Lois talking to someone named "Mitchell" on the phone. Mitchell says he's got the sniffles and can't make a date they'd planned. Mitchell! Lois, disappointed, hangs up the phone. She looks around grumpily before staring at Clark. He pretends to read the phone book. Lois trudges over and sighs miserably. "I don't suppose you own a tuxedo?" she asks. Clark says he could get one. Lois says she had a date to Lex Luthor's ball, but that the guy got the flu. "Yes?" Clark asks, not letting her off the hook. Lois asks if he'd like to go. Clark, hilariously, just lets her twist in the wind without answering. Lois walks off in frustration, and then comes back. "Do you want to take his place or not?" she asks. Clark says thanks, but he's going to bed early. Lois berates him for missing the social event of the season. While she's explaining how everyone's going to be there, Clark stands and asks, "So, is this a date?" Lois laughs and asks if that's like in Kansas where he'd meet her parents and he'd try to give her a hickey in the vacant lot behind the Dairy Freeze. Ha! Lois gets serious and says that this is business. She says she plans to land the first Lex Luthor interview. Clark says he'll go. She says she'll meet him there. "Nine," she says, spinning back again after starting to walk off.
