Argle Bargle? Or Fooforah?
Later, in bed, Nancy tells Ronnie she can't stand Stamos. "He never looks me in the eye," Ronnie says. There's no love lost between the couple. Nancy chuckles and puts an arm around Ronnie. She says that if anybody can get Ron elected, Stamos can. That should be the motto for all of entertainment: "Stamos Can." I saw him on Broadway in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and while he might not be Matthew Broderick, he pulled it off. Because Stamos Can. Ronnie apologizes for the trip thing. Nancy asks if he thinks he'll win. He says if he doesn't, he'll be seventy-two at the next go-'round. "Please, Nancypants, stick with me," Ron says. It's very sweet. Reagan home, daytime. Patti says she read that Ronnie fired Zeljko. Nancy says Ron didn't fire him; he quit. She says that Zeljko has personal problems to work out. Patti asks what kind. Nancy ignores the question and asks why Patti is there. Patti says she was explaining to Bernie that this is the biggest movie her parents will ever star in, and that everyone else is just a bit player. She says that nobody else matters. Nancy asks what Patti's been smoking. Patti says she wishes she were stoned right now. Nancy says that her daughter finally turned herself into a drug addict. Nancy says that Patti's life is such a mess. "God help you," she suggests. Patti says she's beyond God's help. God? If you can hear me? Please let me get through this recap. This woman is annoying me. Patti informs Nancy that she got her tubes tied. "Oh, my God," Nancy says, near tears. Patti says it's because she doesn't want to have kids and screw them up like Ronnie and Nancy screwed her up. She says that everything sucks. She screams that she doesn't want to be a part of all this anymore. "God, Mom, please, will you help me?" Patti finally says, breaking down. What? Geez. Patti says she hurts so bad. No wonder Patti Davis denounced the movie in Time. This is pretty embarrassing. Nancy hugs Patti. They both cry. Nancy says they'll get Patti a doctor, and that Patti can stay there as long as she needs to. James Brolin and Stamos, a match made in TV heaven. Stamos is badmouthing Ed Meese. Meese is out of the loop, apparently. Ronnie gets mad. He calls Stamos a dirty, rotten bastard, and says that this is the same speech Stamos gave about Zeljko. Ronnie isn't letting Stamos get rid of Ed Meese. Stamos goes all spineless and says that this is Ronnie's campaign, and he doesn't know if he can stay under these conditions. "Why don't you look me in the eye, you son of a bitch?" Ronnie demands. Stamos sort of looks away, smiling, like he just got caught. Stamos excuses himself. "Get me my wife back," Ronnie demands of Satan, who just happens to be in the room. "You said it, sir." Satan can be pretty agreeable when he's had a few drinks.
