MONDO EXTRAS
When Did We Get the Leverage to Talk to Timothy Hutton?
I would buy the heck out of that comic book.
Hutton: [Laughs.]
One of the funniest parts of every episode is when the characters flash back to previous jobs. Are there any good ones this season?
Hutton: The use of the flashback to show previous jobs or some fun biographical details for the character -- that's definitely in the shooting scripts, and they're always fun to go back to. You know, one of the characters says, "Have you ever been locked underground?" and Parker says, "Yeah, that happened to me once," and it turns out that, for fun, she used to like to get buried alive. So she kind of misses the question, but has an answer and her own version of being locked underground, when actually, Elliott meant the basement or something. So there are things like that, you flash back and you see that happening.
I see you're in an upcoming movie called A Serious Moonlight?
Hutton: That's a movie I did with Meg Ryan, and Cheryl Hines directed it.
Now, it says that it's about a man whose house is robbed while he's duct-taped to the toilet. Tell me you're one of the robbers and not the guy on the toilet.
Hutton: I am the man duct-taped to the toilet. I am, yes. I'm Meg Ryan's husband, she's my wife, and she finds out that I've been seeing Kristen Bell, and she gets pretty upset about it, and she knocks me out and tapes me to a toilet and makes me look back on all our time together as a married couple and forces me to go down memory lane in this bathroom and forces there to be a confrontation between myself, Kristen and her. And while all that's happening, the house gets ripped off. It's a very funny movie, and most of it takes place between Meg and I in this bathroom. Wonderful dialogue back and forth where I'm trying to convince her it's over, and she's going, "No, you're going to listen to this song I'm going to sing you. You're going to look at this slideshow." It's good.
Any benefits or drawbacks to spending most of a film shoot taped to a toilet?
Hutton: Well, you don't have to worry about bathroom breaks...
