"Jason Is So Much Like A Sister To Me"

The Will Arnett Interview

WC: Yeah, that's a drag.

WA: Well, it is what it is, but I think that one of the great things about GOB that pays off for him, story-wise or character-wise, is this sort of unrelenting feeling of being passed over and not getting the attention or love or credit that he thinks he deserves. Now, he doesn't deserve it. But he thinks he does. But he's not willing to put the work in on anything. Except for, maybe, George Sr. GOB would do anything that George Sr. asks him to do.

WC: Those episodes are great. The softball episode was great for that.

WA: There's another really sweet scene between George Sr. and GOB in the last episode, too. And I love working with Jeffrey [Tambor].

WC: It's such a shame that George Sr.'s been hidden away this season.

WA: Well, let's just say...not for long.

WC: Okay!

WA: Do you know what I mean?

WC: Yes, but don't say anything else.

WA: I won't get this part of the interview blacked out?

WC: No, I won't spoiler-tag it.

WA: I don't want Glark to come down and black everything out.

WC: No, God forbid. He's such a hard-ass.

WA: I know.

WC: You've gotten the most catchphrases -- "I've made a huge mistake," and the chicken, and "COME ON!," of course. Do people yell them at you on the street?

WA: I do have people ask me if I will do the chicken dance for them.

WC: And will you?

WA: No!

WC: Do you, when you're asked?

WA: I am not a chimpanzee. And we all know that they rip people's scrotums off, so thank God I'm not. But GOB has a new [laughs]-- I don't want to ruin it...I mean, "ruin it," like people are waiting with bated breath.

WC: They are.

WA: Yeah, like who shot JR. "What's GOB gonna do? In the grand scheme of things?" Which is actually one of my favorite jokes ever on the show: "Weapons of Mass Destruction found: how it affects your weekend!"

WC: [laughs]

WA: But GOB has a new gimmick for the last couple of episodes that I'm not sure we won't get a bunch of letters about.

WC: Oh! Like it's potentially offensive.

WA: It is potentially very offensive. And it's offensive to everybody on the show -- it's always a satire.

WC: Yes, of course. GOB's an idiot. His behaviour is not the behaviour you're supposed to emulate.

WA: No no no. It's reprehensible. He's an ignorant jackass. But never more than with, let me just say, his old friend Franklin.
