TV Bigshot: TWoP Staff Picks

TV Bigshot: TWoP Staff Picks

Big Shots: Look, I know it looks bad. Strike that, it looks terrible. And a criminal waste of Michael Vartan's immaculate face. But it premieres right after Grey's Anatomy, which, quality issues aside, still pulls in a hefty number. No one ever went hungry in Hollywood by being too cynical.

Samantha Who?: Another time slot baby, this one airs after Dancing With The Stars. Hopefully viewers will come for Jennie Garth and stay for Christina Applegate, making this the "Hey, remember the Fox network in the early '90s?" block of programming.

Journeyman: Kevin McKidd! Time-traveling reporter! Not exactly like Quantum Leap, we swear! As a time slot choice (it's on Mondays after Heroes) it's a bit riskier than most, since this slot managed to kill Studio 60 and The Black Donnellys dead last season. Look, they can't all be winners, okay? As $46 mil, I wasn't exactly breaking my bank.

Gossip Girl: Low on bank, I went rummaging through the discount bin -- i.e., The CW -- to find something cheap but with some upside to it. Enter Gossip Girl. Josh Schwartz doesn't need to produce the next O.C., he just needs to produce something that can hold on to enough of America's Next Top Model's audience for me to make some quick (fake) bucks off of it.
