TWoP Picks The 2008 Golden Globes: TV

Just in case the Golden Globe Awards actually do make it to live TV and aren't forced to go black by a WGA picket line, here are the TWoP picks for who should be walking home with statues -- and who actually will. Don't blame us if you hate Pushing Daisies and it wins big: we don't get a vote. (But we did think Pushing Daisies was pretty good, so...)

Best Television Series: Drama
Big Love
Damages
Grey's Anatomy
House
Mad Men
The Tudors

Should Win: Mad Men. Damages was addictive, but slumped somewhat in its middle. Big Love was great, too, but not as much of a shocking surprise as AMC's "God, weren't the sixties terrifying?" Madison Avenue drama.

Will Win: Based on nomination tallies, Damages looks to be the frontrunner, which sounds just fine to us. They already gave Best Drama to Nip/Tuck a few years ago, so it's not like they're likely to shy away from the FX shows.

Best Television Series: Musical or Comedy
30 Rock
Californication
Entourage
Extras
Pushing Daisies

Should Win: All apologies to Extras and Pushing Daisies, which we like just fine, but this is the easiest call on the entire ballot. 30 Rock by a mile.

Will Win: Pushing Daisies. It's the bright, shiny new thing -- the Globes love that.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series: Musical or Comedy
Alec Baldwin -- 30 Rock
Steve Carell -- The Office
David Duchovny -- Californication
Ricky Gervais -- Extras
Lee Pace -- Pushing Daisies

Should Win: Alec Baldwin, if only for that hyper-offensive Good Times therapy session with Tracy.

Will Win: Tough call. Unlike the Emmys, the Globes don't usually go for repeat winners in the TV categories, and they've already awarded Baldwin and Carell (not to mention Gervais for the British version of The Office). So I guess it's Lee Pace's turn. To be honest, so long as it's not Duchovny, we're fine with whomever.
