That song "The Fake Empire" starts playing, as we see Moretta checking in on his family. Bryant goes home to his wife and dog and curls up next to her and starts making out with her. The dog watches. Det. Adams walks back into the ant-infested kitchen and tells her mother that she's home, she had to go back to get something she left at work. Tells her mom to go back to sleep because it is early. She's got a band-aid on her head. John walks into a bar and starts drinking and commiserates with the guy that got arrested for working the bushes. It seems like he's in a gay bar, or there's coincidentally just a lot of really attractive, young, muscled guys there and not a single woman. Interesting twist. The mom comes and covers up her daughter, while Ben looks at his daily book. Cooper wrote that he did his duties to the highest standard and that they'll be lucky if he sticks with it.

I think we'll be lucky if NBC sticks with this show. It's gritty and hard-hitting and probably more suited to cable. It's got the potential to be a winner, with a solid cast (yes, even little O.C. boy surprised me) and intersecting storylines that show so many events instead of focusing on one big case. The only weak link here was Tom Everett Scott's character, who really did nothing. I'm not sure what the purpose of him was, because Regina King totally outshined him. I think they either need to beef up his role, or get rid of him, because it is too weird to have a known actor like that basically in an extra/background role. Otherwise, I enjoyed it, but I think it is going to be a casuality of the "all Leno, all the time" scheduling next year.
