Chez Chase. Danielle answers the phone; it's Jordan, calling for Angela. Danielle listens in for a moment, and Patty comes over and chides her for doing so, then proceeds to listen in herself as Jordan reports that Rayanne has come to band practice. "Rayanne is there?" Angela repeats. Shot of Rayanne sashaying around the loft. "What is she doing there?" Jordan says he called to ask Angela that, because "no one even invited" Rayanne, and now she's coming onto the drummer and acting like she's high. Shot of Rayanne flirtatiously donning the drummer's headphones. Angela doesn't know anything about it; over a shot of the drummer offering Rayanne a sip of beer and Rayanne shaking her head "no thanks," Angela asks how rehearsal is going. Jordan says it sucks; nobody's playing, everyone's just sitting around drinking beer. A shot of Patty hearing this as Graham walks up behind her. Angela yells down again for Danielle to hang up, but Danielle walks past the doorway two seconds later; Angela shrugs and goes back to the call, and downstairs, Graham hisses at Patty, and Patty slams down the receiver and cringes at Graham's look of disapproval. "So I'm really sorry," Angela says for about the twenty-eighth time this episode, and rambles on that she's glad Jordan called her, because he's never called her before, "on the phone." As opposed to opening his bedroom window and calling to her from there. Shot of Rayanne getting into the hammock with the drummer. "I gotta go," Jordan mumbles, and he hangs up and glares at Rayanne. Angela stares at the receiver and sags around the shoulders.
Downstairs, Graham gives Patty shit for listening in on Angela's call. Patty defends herself by saying that it's the only way she can get any information, adding contemptuously, "And by the way, that was your close, personal friend Jordan Catalano -- it seems that Rayanne is in a loft drinking beer. So much for her great sobriety." Okay, that's how arguments started in our house about this show, because my mother has the exact same tendency to take a bit of misinformation and run with it, like, to Tucson, so we'd watch a scene like that and say, "God, that is so Ma," and she'd say, "I do not do that! I do not do that!" and we'd say, "You totally do that, you've done it a million times," and we'd list examples, and she'd get all huffy and go upstairs to watch the show in the kitchen. Anyway, Graham teases Patty, "How is Jordan? He send his regards?" She tells him to stop "lording it over" her that he met Jordan. After a moment, she confesses that she's worried about Rayanne. Graham says that Angela doesn't seem worried, but Patty doesn't think Angela would tell them if she felt otherwise: "She barely speaks to us." She goes on to say that she gets the feeling that "Rayanne is in trouble," but she doesn't know what to do. She wonders aloud if she should speak to Rayanne's mom, and Graham gives her a warning "Patty," so Patty says she knows that's "crossing the line," but she sneaks a look at Graham, hoping he'll say that maybe she should call Amber after all. He just shakes his head.
