"Heart of Darkness" begins in the Enchanted Forest, at twilight. A full moon is on the rise. Charming and Red (who is wearing her Magical Cloak of Midol) are taking a breather from their search for Snow/flight from King George's men. As they sit around their campfire, a flaming arrow heads straight for Red. Charming sees it in the nick of time, and bats it away with his sword. When they see the horses approaching, Charming mounts his steed and tells Red to hop on. She tells him to find Snow; she'll delay the knights and give him a head start. She looks up at the full moon, to make clear her meaning. Charming follows suit, catches her drift, and takes off. Red removes the Magical Cloak of Midol, morphs into a wolf and charges at the knights. We cut to Charming, who hears the wolf howl, just as he's riding past a wanted poster featuring his own true love.
In Storybrooke, Emma books Mary Margaret, who is pleading her innocence. Emma already knows Mary is innocent, but she has to book Mary, or Regina will fire her and bring in someone who will railroad Mary Margaret. Emma asks Mary to bear with her as she questions her.
Enchanted Forest. Snow, wears a twee red bow in her hair. As she sweeps the dwarfs' cottage, she sweetly hums "With A Smile And A Song." An impossibly blue bird chirps along with her. Snow holds out her hand, encouraging him to perch. When he does, she places him on the table. Her tune turns flat. She raises the broom and tries to whack the bird to death, but he manages to flutter away. I hope you watched the episode, if for no reason other than this scene, because it is hilarious. When Grumpy catches her and asks what she's doing, she says she's getting rid of the vermin in their house. She doesn't manage to kill the bird, but it does fly out a window, thank goodness. Grumpy encourages her to come to dinner. She finally relents.
