It's Time to Remember

It's time for Alison's memorial, and that means that Alison's older brother Jason is coming back to town. He's gone from punk rock to polished Ivy leaguer. Jason's got more than a few changes to the program and the memorial, which rubs control freak Spencer the wrong way. He's a pretty terrible and stilted actor, which rubs me the wrong way. He's pretty keen on getting Alison's murder solved, and he finds out that Toby called Alison that night and she got the call, and happens to mention that Alison blamed the stink bombing on Spencer. He's charming. He'd actually be perfect for Melissa.

We learn through flashbacks that Alison talked a lot about dying young and being immortal. She mostly talks about this while all the girls are sunning themselves… except Hanna who wears far too many clothes to make her look like she was chubby. At the same BBQ she made fun of Jenna, said that Aria would need a boob job to get Noel's attention, picked on Lucas, and made Emily uncomfortable about kissing partners.

So naturally, Aria's worried when Noel wants to go out with her (and Hanna's pushing it so she and Sean can go to a concert). But Noel turns out to be a nice guy and understands about her boyfriend in Iceland (aka Fitz) and that she might be upset about her parents separation.

Formerly Hefty Hanna continues to get flack for hanging out with Lucas, but that's OK because he's helping her sell her vast purse collection on eBay for cash, since Melrose Mom says that she's having trouble making ends meet.

Emily also gets awkward about kissing Maya in public, but they totally make out at the movies. And bonus for Emily, her dad is coming home from Afghanistan.

Jenna gets Jason to let her talk at the memorial and she also tells Spencer that Alison was afraid of her and was totally done with uptight Spence, which makes Spencer a sad, sad girl.

After the memorial, someone goes out in the rain and smashes up the tiles and the pretty water bowl that signified the girls lasting friendship or whatever.
